Bring your string and bait for crabbing off the sound dock in the park. Golfers will be delighted with the exceptional 4-star rated North Shore Country Club that is only 3 miles away. Putt-Putt Golf is just a few miles down the road as well as the Karen Beasley Turtle Rescue center. Want more adventures? Take a short day trip to Wilmington (35 miles south) to visit the USS North Carolina Battleship in Wilmington or visit the North Carolina Aquarium in Pine Knoll Shores (35 miles north).

INSIGHTS: For those beach walkers, between July and October, keep your eye out for signs and pink borderlines of a turtle nest preparing to hatch. Turtle project volunteers prepare the nesting area for the emerging turtles by creating smooth runaways in the sand and clearing the area of obstacles. At night, trained volunteers sit by these nests and await the actual hatching, as well as advise nearby homeowners to shield their lights, in order for the turtles to aim for the ocean and newly made driveways and away from stray light.
